Virginia Vestoff (December 9, 1939 – May 2, 1982) was a Russian-American actress who played Samantha Collins and Samantha Drew on Dark Shadows. Vestoff was born in New York City to a musical family - her mother was a descendant of famed composer Stephen Foster. Virginia was orphaned at the age of nine and was raised by relatives. She overcame her grief by surrounding herself with the arts, and was already an accomplished singer by the age of twelve.
Virginia grew up to become a noted theatre actress appearing in several Broadway plays. In a Tony nominated performance, she played Abigail Adams in the musical 1776, later playing the same part in the movie adaptation (along with another Dark Shadows alum, David Ford).
She died of cancer in New York City at the age of 42.
