It was the location of a bogus business deal that Burke Devlin concocted to fool Carolyn Stoddard into believing that he'd only returned to Collinsport for a few days in 1967. He pretended that a deal with a man named Jose could make him $500,000, but only if he left for Venezuela in a day or two (10).
