The Old House is the informal name given to the original Collins family mansion on the grounds of the Collins estate in Collinsport, Maine.
By 1830, most of the Collins family members relocated to the new, larger mansion known as Collinwood. The vampire, Barnabas Collins chose to remain in the Old House and became its sole owner. Through the ages, Barnabas would employ various servants to act as caretaker to the estate. Their true function however, was to guard over his coffin during the daylight hours while he slept, and to keep pesky intruders away.
