You've added some excellent information here Brian, but I'm afraid it all has to be cited with specific episode references. Proudhug 16:55, 15 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Thanks Proudhug! I realized later that I neglected some citations for two of the more obscure references that I made. I just added them, but I'm not 100% positive that they are the first eps in which those details were introduced. I'll go back and edit if they're incorrect. --Brian 21:35, 15 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, that's alright if they're not the first time they're shown, since others will eventually fix it. As a matter of fact, the door to the right of the mantle was shown very early on in the series, so I'll add the citation when I get up to that episode. Proudhug 18:28, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Confirmation[]

There are three other known egresses from the drawing room into other areas of the house. On the right hand side of the mantle is a secret panel that was used by Gabriel Collins in 1840 (1188). Another door on the left side of the mantle leads into an office/study area. A third (rarely seen) doorway leads into a hall towards a small staircase. This hall was almost never seen because it was positioned at the spot where the camera crews would be stationed during filming. Occasionally, a character would walk towards the camera indicating that an alternative exit did in fact exist (1195).

Okay, I know I'm no expert or anything, but this doesn't sound right to me. From what I can tell, there is the main entrance/exit to the drawing room (the double doors, directly across the main doors to the house), and the secret passage to the West Wing.

I drew this map, and this is what I believe is correct.

Am I wrong?

Hey, TheNunOwnedGoat. Let me formally welcome you to the site! I don't think it's a good idea to use fan-made documents like that photo on the site. One of the Dark Shadows reference books includes a picture of the blueprints of the set, so that'd be a lot better to use. Also, the floor plan from the FAQ (and consequently yours) is in fact incorrect. The drawing room isn't shaped like a square or rectangle. One of the corners has a diagonal wall, making there five corners, rather than four. Well, technically there are only three corners of the set, since the "fourth wall" is missing. So, the location of the secret panel, as described in this article, is correct. Sorry about the rant, but I hope that clears things up. Once again, welcome to the site and I'm excited you're here! --Proudhug 20:37, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
