Sean Sullivan

Sean Sullivan (from the Bristol Herald Courier)

Sean Dhu Sullivan (May 4, 1921-April 23, 2017) was a director on the original Dark Shadows.

Born John Walter Sullivan in Malden, Maine to Patrick Joseph (PJ) and Anna Gilman Sullivan, Sean was raised in Caribou, Maine. He graduated from Harvard University in 1943 and enlisted in World War II serving in the Signal Corps and participating in the SIGABA encryption program. After the war, Sean attended The American Academy of the Dramatic Arts and Fordham University, earning his Master of Fine Arts in Television Programing.

Spending more than 35 years in the television business (specifically ABC television), Sean also served as Director of the Directors Guild of America and won a directing Emmy Award as well as multiple Emmy nominations.

Retirement brought Sean to Abingdon, Virginia where wrote plays and poems, participated in the Barter Theater, and mentored young writers.

Sean passed away on April 23, 2017 at the age of 95.
