Mitchell Ryan (born January 11, 1934) played Burke Devlin in the original Dark Shadows. Ryan was fired from the show in 1967 because of his alcoholism and was replaced by Anthony George. He later conquered the disease and is still an active performer, especially on television. He is sometimes credited as Mitch Ryan. Ryan is also known for playing Edward Montgomery in the TV series Dharma & Greg between 1997-2002 and drug kingpin General McAllister in the film Lethal Weapon (1987).
