Laura Collins was the mother of David Collins and the wife of Roger Collins. She died in 1966/7 at sea, evidently murdered by Angelique Bouchard. From that time, she haunted her son. Unusually for a ghost, at least under some circumstances Laura could physically impact the physical world, as she did in the Tim Burton film at its climax, in effect attacking Angelique and causing her considerable (even fatal) harm simply by screaming. Earlier, she had told her son where to find Barnabas Collins chained up by Angelique.
