Reverend Trask performs an exorcism on Cassandra, causing her disappearance.

Synopsis[]

The great house of Collinwood is a place of many memories. The past is a vivid thing to many of the people who live there, but to one woman, the past has become a curse, and all she can think of is joining those ancestors at whose grave she has spent the day.

Elizabeth continues to be obsessed with death and makes plans for her own funeral. Trask performs an exorcism on Cassandra; then she disappears.

Memorable quotes[]

Reverend Trask (to Cassandra):  We will see who is stronger, your master or mine! The eternal battle shall be waged again here in this house!

Dramatis personae[]

Background information and notes[]

Production[]

  • This episode was recorded out of broadcast sequence. The previous episode to be recorded was 509.
  • Jerry Lacy is incorrectly credited as portraying Tony Peterson instead of Reverend Trask in the credit roll.

Story[]

Bloopers and continuity errors[]

  • Joan Bennett stumbles over a few lines when Elizabeth is talking to Roger in Act I.
  • As Roger tells Cassandra that Victoria is going to bring Maggie home for a couple of days, the shadow of the boom mic is visible on the wall and fireplace.
  • At the end of Act 1, the ghost of Reverend Trask appears behind Cassandra. As the scene fades at the end of the act, the camera moves, which makes it look as if Trask is bouncing up and down.
  • When Cassandra moves while she is tied up in the final act, the tree she is tied to moves.
  • The dreaded Collinsport Fly almost flies right into Jerry Lacy's mouth as Reverend Trask is exorcising Cassandra. He quickly blows it away and continues with the exorcism. Shortly after, the fly bumps his nose, and he shakes his head. The fly then settles onto his shoulder.
  • As Cassandra disappears, the audio drops out on two of Trask’s words. You can read his lips for the missing words: “Her spirit is free! [Out, devils!] Go!”
  • When Reverend Trask falls to his knees after Cassandra disappears, the round wooden base of the tree is clearly seen.
