From The Dark Shadows Wiki

This article belongs to the continuity of the novels by Marilyn Ross.

Collinwood is the name of the ancestral family home of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine. Constructed by Jeremiah Collins in 1830, it housed over forty rooms and an unspecified number of secret passages and hidden vaults. Collinwood has also been informally referred to by the name, Collins House.

There were several other homes and buildings located on the grounds of the Collinwood estate. There was the original family mansion, commonly referred to as the Old House. There was a groundskeeper cottage occupied by Matthew Morgan in the 1960s. There was also a large, brightly colored mansion occupied by Ernest Collins in the 1960s.

All of the Collins family meals were served and prepared here. In 1967 there were no cooks or maids employed to work at the estate, so the head of the household, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard prepared all of the meals. Victoria Winters often assisted with this to take some of the burden off of Mrs. Stoddard.
