This article is about the wife of William Loomis in 1970 Parallel Time. For her counterpart in the main time band, see Carolyn Stoddard Hawkes.

Carolyn Stoddard Loomis lived at the Loomis House in 1970 Parallel Time. She was married to William Loomis. Her mother, Elizabeth and Uncle Roger lived nearby at Collinwood.

Carolyn was present the night of the séance which took the life of Angelique Stokes Collins. At the time, she believed that Angelique died of a stroke, as reported by Dr. Cyrus Longworth.

Carolyn was the first victim of Barnabas Collins, who had just arrived from the standard time-line. Her husband noticed her odd behaviour and discovered she was under Barnabas' control, but soon he also became a victim of Barnabas. Barnabas was less willing to enforce his will over Carolyn than over William, which may have led to her downfall.

While trying to figure out who murdered Angelique, Carolyn had a dream in which she remembered that after Angelique collapsed at the séance, she saw the head of one of her mother's hat-pins. Carolyn had confided in her mother that William had developed a crush on Angelique and she was encouraging him by reading his novels aloud to him. Carolyn was certain her mother had murdered Angelique for her, an idea which was reinforced when Elizabeth asked Carolyn to sell her hat-pin collection because she needed the money. This upset Carolyn greatly. After speaking to Inspector Hamilton and her mother both, Carolyn realized her mother could not be the murderer and concluded, correctly, that it was Roger.

After William died jumping out a window in the tower room, Carolyn became extremely distraught and started drinking heavily. Following a particularly heavy bout of drinking during the day and night, Carolyn confided to Roger that she knew Alexis Stokes was really Angelique, returned from the dead and that you could still see the mark where the hat-pin had been driven into her neck (1048). She said she would tell more and more secrets, each one leading to reveal other secrets. Without William, Carolyn essentially had a death wish and Roger fulfilled it by stabbing her to death in the tower room (1049).

Notes

After Carolyn's death, Elizabeth was driven to distraction and while wandering the house resisting sedation, she heard Roger confess to Angelique's portrait that he murdered both Carolyn and Angelique. She tried to kill Roger, but was unsuccessful, becoming Roger's fourth victim (1053).
