Barnabas believes he has at last overcome Angelique's curse.
Synopsis[]
- No peace exists on the great estate of Collinwood, for this is a night of horror which never seems to end. One man has been attacked by a bat and died. Two friends who loved him buried the body before he could return as one of the living dead. But a new mystery develops, for in a deserted root cellar, a second man has died of exactly the same symptoms as the first, seemingly without reason.
Stokes doubts Julia's theory, but accompanies her to Barnabas' grave; Julia puts off Stokes' questions as they unearth Barnabas. Adam revives fully, inquiring about Barnabas.
Barnabas comes to; Julia tells him "Angélique didn't count on Adam." Stokes tells Julia that Adam has escaped, but really Carolyn has taken him to the West Wing; he wishes he knew Barnabas' secret.
Barnabas lurks by Cassandra, pondering what to do. He frightens her. Barnabas says the dawn will be the most beautiful one he’s ever seen, because he’ll be free of her.
Memorable quotes[]
- Julia: Men die.
- Professor Stokes: Not without reason.
- Julia: Usually without reason.
- Professor Stokes (to Julia): If I can only get this lid open...there...perhaps you'll be in less of a hurry the next time you bury the dead.
- Carolyn: There has to be a logical explanation
- Professor Stokes: For once I would tend to doubt that.
- Professor Stokes: I wish I knew the secret of Barnabas Collins. He inspires so many emotions in so many people. Someday I will understand it, I am sure.
- Barnabas: And have you missed the dawn? It will be a beautiful dawn, and do you know why?
- Cassandra: You're hurting me!
- Barnabas: You will listen to what I have to say.
- Cassandra: Go ahead then!
- Barnabas: It will be a beautiful dawn because it will be the first one I will ever see without being afraid of you. You no longer have any power over me...none at all.
- Cassandra: I will have again, I swear it! And soon!

Bloopers and continuity errors[]
- At the beginning of the teaser when Julia is using the stethoscope on Adam, there is a lot of off-stage noise, including footsteps.
- At the beginning of Act I, Grayson Hall flubs a line: "As far as I can see, Barnas...Barnabas..."
- The blood previously seen on Barnabas' neck in 536 is no longer there. [Addendum: Julia and Willie could have easily cleaned it up before burying him.]
- Barnabas's suit isn't wrinkled after being buried. [Addendum: There's no reason it would be wrinkled. He's in a coffin.]
- Neither Julia nor Professor Stokes have any dirt on them after digging up Barnabas's coffin.
- When Barnabas is looking in the mirror and says he's free, Grayson Hall starts saying a line too early.
- In the final scene with Barnabas and Cassandra, the back of Jonathan Frid's hair is quite mussed.
- In Act IV, Jonathan Frid steps on Lara Parker's line. Barnabas says, "Curious how one changes, is it not?" Cassandra says, "Yes," but Frid starts saying his next line when Parker continues with "yes it is."
