Nicholas brings Cassandra back to Collinwood but warns her of the consequences of her failure.
Synopsis[]
- The great house of Collinwood is shrouded in darkness, but within the darkness, the powers of evil exist. Not far from the house, in the forest that lies beyond it, there is one who is evoking the powers of evil to cause the return of a woman who could destroy one member of the Collins family.
Angelique reappears, and Nicholas wants to know how she got herself into this mess. He thinks that love is getting her in trouble, but Angelique vows she feels only hate for Barnabas. Jeff goes to see Victoria, aggravating Roger.
Nicholas and Cassandra work out a plan; Victoria is missing; as Clark and Roger look for her, Cassandra returns. She says she’s been in Philadelphia where she grew up.
Jeff wakes sleepwalker Victoria up; she has a button in her hand. Nicholas gives credence to Cassandra's explanations. Victoria says she’s afraid of Cassandra and Nicholas.
Jeff tells Victoria that he's Peter Bradford; his explanations, however, don’t stack up to Victoria's experiences. Now she thinks he's Jeff Clark, not Peter Bradford. Nicholas comes in to tell Victoria he’ll help her, and Jeff notices that the button she was holding came from his jacket.

Background information and notes[]
Production[]
- This episode was recorded out of broadcast sequence. The previous episode to be recorded was 517.
- There is a tape edit during scene with Victoria and Jeff in Victoria's room.
- The soundtrack is slightly garbled as Nicholas and Cassandra talk and look at Collinwood in the distance.
Story[]
- Cassandra claims that she and Nicholas grew up in Philadelphia.
- TIMELINE: 2am: Jeff arrives at Collinwood. Cassandra says she's been in Philadelphia for a few days as a cover story for her disappearance (she disappeared in 519).
Bloopers and continuity errors[]
- The screams heard by Cassandra in the beginning of this episode are not the same screams heard at the end of the previous episode.
- In the teaser, when we first hear Cassandra's screams and there is a thunderclap, Nicholas looks away, and we see a still shot of the setting (or rising) sun. This makes no sense as it's clearly in the middle of the night, established to be around 2:00 a.m.
- At the beginning of Act I, the ropes around Cassandra are tied in a different pattern from how she was tied in the teaser.
- Lara Parker flubs a line in Act I: "Where [or possibly "when"] did you...how did you find me?" She flubs another in Act II: "We did ver...marry very quickly."
- Sometime after Cassandra and Nicholas talk in front of Collinwood but before she actually enters the house, Cassandra managed to find time to change her clothes. (She's a witch. Samantha Stephens did it all the time on Bewitched.)
- A boom microphone shadow can be seen over Louis Edmonds' shoulder as Cassandra enters the foyer.
- Alexandra Moltke can be seen waiting for her cue before wandering in the forest.
- Victoria did not make it very far - when Jeff finds her she is clearly at the same tree which she had led Nicholas to earlier (granted they have shot this scene from a different camera angle presumably to create the effect of a different part of the forest).
- A stage light can be seen reflected in the mirror behind Victoria and Jeff when they are talking in Victoria's room.
